Occurrence of Drunk Driving
Drunk driving is when someone who has more taken alcohol than is specified drives while drunk. This is mostly against the law making it a crime. When drunk driving occurs, more often than not, accidents happen as a result. As a result of these accidents, road users could lose their lives, damage done to not only individual and but state property also.
Most of the drunk driving cases happen during the night, weekends and over the holidays. These are the times most people are free and see it fit to unwind from their daily occupations. Most of the accidents caused by drunk driving occur during these peak times. Some accidents may result to fatalities or maim the drivers and other victims.
Drunk driving accidents occur so easily. Irresponsible behavior comes as a result of someone losing sound judgment when they take alcohol. They then commit traffic offenses like over speeding, they run road signs that say indicate bumps and causing an accident.
So much publicity has been done so as to curb cases of drunk driving. Some taxi companies even base their marketing on the same but despite all that, drunk driving still controls the day. The cases are at times brought down when taxi drivers strategically place themselves outside drinking joints to ferry the alcohol drinkers to their destinations instead of driving when drunk. It is important to put taxi drivers out of drinking joints But sometimes drivers go with their cars initially so they may find it inconvenient to leave their cars behind and they then opt to drunk driving. There can be a case where a driver spends all their money on the alcohol and end up with no money for the cab. Despite the factors that could prevent drunk driving, most drivers still end up driving while drunk for whatever reason.
Another preventive measure is by having traffic police be more vigilant at during these drunk driving peak times. This mostly works because the penalties out in place are tough on the crime, it being an offense against the country’s law. Huge fines may be imposed on the crime and/or jail term if the offense resulted in fatalities or property destruction. The offensive driver has the possibility of losing their driving license.
Drunk driving does more harm than good to all the parties involved. People will never stop taking alcohol meaning drunk driving can never stop as well. The best alternative would be to stiffen the penalties for drunk driving. A weight is on people to gather the lessons learnt from the results of drunk driving and bring changes to generations to come. Young children should also be taught growing up the consequences of the action. In this way, changes to the next generation is achieved then drunk driving can be a thing of the past
